Bergslagsvägen på den tiden Västanfors bar socknens namn och all tänkbar service fanns inom ett avstånd på ett par hundra meter.
Förändringen påbörjades 1944 då socknen blev stad och fick namnet Fagersta efter påtryckningar från bruket.
